Inlay & Onlays

For more attractive repairs that last

Inlays and onlays offer a hard-wearing solution for cavities that cannot be repaired with a normal filling. An inlay fits within a cavity, whereas an onlay covers the biting surface of the tooth. Although gold was often used in the past, inlays and onlays are now made from more natural-looking materials, such as porcelain and composite resin.

A dental technician uses impressions taken of your teeth to produce custom-made inlays or onlays. A temporary filling will protect the prepared tooth while you wait for the final restoration. When ready, we fix this securely in place with a dental adhesive.
